Thrift Store Donation Items

03Sep08

Youth aging out of custody in middle Tennessee can receive assistance with personal and household items at the Totally Yours Thrift Store.  Youth Connections has been serving as a central place for young people to come for aid for three years and has now expanded to offer a thrift store where young adults can obtain household goods, clothing, baby items, small electronics, and much more.

Each month Youth Connections holds a drive for a department in the thrift shop.  This month’s focus is the Children’s Area.  Items needed include:

  • Diapers (Sizes 1-4)
  •  Wipes
  • Clothing (newborn up to size eight)
  • Shoes (all sizes)
  • Socks (all sizes)
  • Coats/jackets/snowsuits (all sizes)
  • Blankets (infant)
  • Bottles & Sip Cups
  • Car seats and booster seats
  • Underwear & T-shirts (all sizes)

(No toys, formula, food/cereals, books are needed)

Items can be dropped off directly at Youth Connections (1330 Foster Ave, 37211) or at Monroe Harding between 8:30 - 4:30 weekdays.

I would LOVE to make a thrift donation to MONROE HARDING and I was wondering if the items can be used or must be new. I have tons of old tennis shoes and underwear that has never been worn, but has been removed from packaging. Does this matter?
    Thanks so much!

We do accept used items, although only gently used. Of course we prefer things to still be packaged as these young people are starting life on their own and we want them to feel as proud of each thing in their life as possible. But we do realize that there are many great things that may come without packages!
